Orange Giant-Skipper - Agathymus neumoegeni
Granite Basin, Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
September 22, 2008
I saw largely orange dorsal side of wings as this individual flitted around a sodden stream crossing and also held in hands. This location around northwesternmost distributional limit for this species. Larvae feed, hang-out and pupate in leaves of Parry's Agave. One flight about mid-September to mid-October. Adult males feed only on mud and manure, adult females never feed.(1)

Moved from Agathymus.
