Unspotted Tentiform Leafminer Moth - Hodges#0673 - Parornix geminatella - male

Unspotted Tentiform Leafminer Moth - Hodges#0673 - Parornix geminatella - Male
Creighton, Knox County, Nebraska, USA
August 9, 2023
Sent specimen to (leafminer expert) Charley Eiseman:
The following are his comments:
"Parornix was revised in 1907, before anyone was doing dissections in North America, and the key to species should definitely be taken with a grain of salt, but the one you had as P. geminatella keys unambiguously to that species. I dissected it (a male) and compared it with Don Davis' unpublished Parornix genitalia drawings; I'm rarely totally satisfied with the way what I'm looking at on a slide lines up with a drawing, but P. geminatella is definitely the best match, so we'll call it that!

Not previously reported for Nebraska.
