Willamette bug/beetle - Largus cinctus
Willamette River 1.5 mi SE of West Linn boar ramp, Clackamas County, Oregon, USA

I know I have photographed this bug before but can't locate it now Anyhow this is likely a better photo. This insect was moving brisquely across the sandy river beach in apparent search for.....who knows what?

Actually I only have one submitted photo of this, although I'm sure I've seen more. I guess I should have photographed the face as well. There's one record of L. Californicus for Oregon, all the rest are cinctus. I'll have to try to figure out how to tell them apart.
