Sowbug Killer or Brown Recluse? - Trachelas

Sowbug Killer or Brown Recluse? - Trachelas
Milan, Washtenaw County, Michigan, USA
September 23, 2008

Moved
Moved from Spiders.

and not Dysdera either
from here it looks like eight eyes,
and those chelicera...
how about more toward Clubionid?

I've got a new reference guide
Trachelas tranquillus?

Possibly
If we can be sure of Trachelas (eye positions do seem like a match), then T. tranquillus would be the most likely species since, according to Platnick and Shadab, it's the only one recorded in Michigan.

You're probably right
I obviously didn't look close enough.

Trachelas?
We're getting a fair share of images of things resembling Trachelas right now.

Not a recluse
and no Loxosceles spiders have ever been reported in the entire state of Michigan.

Pretty sure this is Dysdera crocata.
