This genus is characterized by large, heavy hind femora with small spines beneath and front tibiae with one middorsal spine. As the species name suggests they attain large size for camel crickets.

Thank you so much, Jeff, for your recent contributions to the camel crickets and cicadas! Most of these I have never seen before.....I wonder if you might want to take a look at some of the unidentified camel cricket images in particular? There are at least two "sand-treader" types that I don't know where to begin to start, and I don't think anyone else has tried to ID them. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give there.
