Sphecidae Mate Guarding - Podalonia - male - female

Sphecidae Mate Guarding - Podalonia - Male Female
Hermiston, Morrow County, Oregon, USA
May 22, 2019
Observed flying around on some flowering plants and around on the ground. This appeared to be a male (top) latched on to a female (bottom) presumably mate-guarding since it did not appear that they were actively copulating while in flight or on the ground.
