Bombyliidae - Paravilla cinerea

Bombyliidae - Paravilla cinerea
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California, USA
April 27, 2008
Size: BL ~ 9.5 mm
This beefly was on Viguiera parishii at Sentenac Canyon--also went to Brittlebush. It has an elongate appearance compared to most. I'd especially like to identify this fly because we saw the same species flinging eggs into a bee burrow.

I believe this is the lovely Paravilla cinerea.

Wonderful to get this to species! More than I dared to even hope for. Thanks so much!
