It is beautiful.

Painted buildings
Beautiful photos!

I am a graduate student and this is one of the species that I study. We actually don't know why they are attracted to recently painted buildings. The current thought is that some component of the paint volatiles mimic the volatile compounds in the host plant.

Did you find this beetle at the beginning of October? Had it been really hot? Did you see just one of them? Can you tell me a little about the area where you found them?

Yes
I found it in the beginning of Oct. It had gotten trapped between my screen and window. It's never really hot here. This is the only one I've found so far. Someone I work with found one about 3 week earlier, but I don't know anything more about that one.

Spectacular!
I'm so happy you found one of these:-) Aren't they amazing? If any buildings have been painted recently, you might find a lot more there.

Really,
why do they like painted buidings?
