Green Bird Munching Salt Cedar - Schistocerca shoshone - female

Green Bird Munching Salt Cedar - Schistocerca shoshone - Female
Cave Creek, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
September 30, 2008
Size: > 5cm
This hopper was joined by several other grasshopper species in feeding on the exotic invasive Tamarix pentandra. On the same shrubs I also found S. albolineata and a mating pair of likely S. lineata.

I love those blue eyes
They sure are pretty hoppers. It'll be fun to (hopefully eventually) learn more of the significance of finding three different-looking types, so closely related, in the same place.
