for letting me know Nancy - gettin' cold up there by now I should think - not too many Tree Crickets singing these days?

 
I did find some singing males last Saturday....
....but this Saturday is a whole different story! (Rain/snow .. with temp in the 30's). Believe it or not :D, I'm going to make a quick check today.

Looks like...
Looks like a western tree cricket, Oecanthus californicus (brown colour, dark antennae above the second segment). However, tree crickets usually require close ups of the basal antennal segments to be sure. Better wait for more opinions.

Eric - I had briefly wondered whether this was a cricket of some kind or other. My guide - as usual - (authored by J. Capinera) was of ABSOLUTELY no value! Should have saved the money and relied on Bugguide!
