I would think about tredecimnotata
The last row of markings on the elytra only has 2 spots, not 4, and the pair of basal markings are close together.

These are 2 points I'd associate with that species over varivestis. Varivestis is also not very common in the western US, though I guess tredecimnotata isn't particularly abundant either.
