Lady Beetle - Cycloneda munda

Lady Beetle - Cycloneda munda
Warrenville, DuPage County, Illinois, USA
October 6, 2008
Size: 4mm
I can never get the facial markings straight...

My way to differentiate...
Black spot with light red or orange elytra = Polished Lady Beetle (Cycloneda munda)

Black spot with bright red elytra = Cycloneda polita

White spot = Spotless Ladybird Beetle (Cycloneda sanguinea)

Man
You lost me.

info page
please see the genus info page here at BugGuide. Location also offers significant determination (more reliable than elytra color).

btw, this is C. munda.

Thanks
Thanks.

Hi Tim -
I just checked and, unfortunately, the Cycloneda genus info page has almost nothing. It looks like our (your?) ID tips are on the polita and sanguinea species pages - do you think we should move some of those comments and images (or links) to the genus page?

done now -
something I've been wanting to get done, to the extent that I thought it already was :(

Wow -
that's wonderful - you are quick!! :)
