Square-headed Wasps - Tachytes distinctus - female

Square-headed Wasps - Tachytes distinctus - Female
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
July 4, 2005
Tachytes?

Moved to Tachytes distinctus
Moved from Tachytes.

6 abdominal segments = ♀

Tachytes sp.
One of the better images I've seen of a Tachytes (sand-loving wasp is the appropriate common name). Species are very difficult to distinguish, even from specimens.

I can understand why
this wasp was constantly on the move. I was surprised the shot turned out this well.
