Asidina ? - Philolithus actuosus

Asidina ? - Philolithus actuosus
Mount Pinos, below summit at ~8800 ft (2682 m)., Kern County, California, USA
October 8, 2008
Found several of these in the summit area.
I'd appreciate comments re. ID. For now it looks like a species in the Asidini (Jim Hogue suggested to look at Pelecyphorus Casey. I perused Harvard MCZ, & though A. confluens - formerly P. confluens - is fairly similar, the elytral ridges on the Mt. Pinos beetle are different. Perhaps Kojun has an idea?

Aaron Smith says: "most likely Philolithus actuosus (Horn)...
"...though it is hard to tell from the picture. I sent a link to Kirby Brown asking his opinion as well."

Moved from Asidini.

Blaisdell seems to have ident
Blaisdell seems to have identified these as Philolithus (Pelecyphorus) opimus Casey. I can't be sure though so it would be best to see what Kojun has to say.

Thanks, Dennis,
perhaps that's what it is, though I still hope for Kojun's comments. Also, a couple of specimens have been sent for ID.
For now, its safe to put this under Asidini.
May be Philolithus actuosus, acc. to Jim Hogue, though have to check some specimens.
