(Written in error, before Gerard's comment below. This text is preserved so, hopefully, it all makes sense.)
What makes this Scaeva is the swollen forehead. Thanks to Gerard for this info, which is found at BG photo # 195639.

But
If you read the comment, you'll see I denied it to be a Scaeva, instead I stated that animal is an Eupeodes!
And in this case it's the same thing!!
So, not a female Scaeva, but a female Eupeodes!
In Scaeva the forehead is more bulging and the shape of the spots is different! I agree it's difficult, and probably a question of experience!! And btw, Scaeva's have hairy eyes!!
