Size: <.5 mm
I noticed a mite on the side of a crane fly (Gnophomyia tristissima). I am guessing it was under a 1/2 mm based on the size of the crane fly. This image can be frassed. I was just curious about the mite ID.

This is most likely a species
This is most likely a species of Cheiroseius (Acari: Parasitiformes: Mesostigmata: Blattisociidae [formerly Ascidae]). These semiaquatic predators are often phoretic on Tipulidae.

Moved to Ascidae
Blattisociidae is listed as Ascidae in the Guide with nothing below it. Should I request the genus page to be added?

Please, don't frass
We have very few acari and even fewer IDed ones, but some day an expert will come along and find all these images valuable, or so I hope.
