Bella Moth - Hodges #8105 - Utetheisa ornatrix
Daphne (Village Point Preserve), Baldwin County, Alabama, USA
October 10, 2008
I love to photograph moths during the day. Better light and chances are they're asleep. I found this moth napping on a bush.

Moved
Moved from Bella Moth.

The two subspecies in North America are no longer recognized and are consider forms of Utetheisa ornatrix.(1)
The Bug Guide pages will be adjusted.
Thanks

Just beautiful!
Just a beautiful moth!! The hind wing color doesn't seem like it should go with the rest of the moth, but it really does. Very striking! I have watched them fly and always hope they will land all spread but they usually fold very quickly. Still very pretty closed. Looking forward to July and The Gathering!
