Moths in the attic! - Xestia infimatis

Moths in the attic! - Xestia infimatis
Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County, California, USA
October 5, 2008
Probably some kind of Owlet Moth. There seem to be a couple types of owlet moths that like to squeeze between the boards of the ceiling so that they can hide out in the attic. Sort of a clever trick! I think I've seen a few different kinds, but maybe they just appear different but are just individual variations. The legs always look like this, with the spots.

ID confirmed for me by Tom Dimock at MPG.

Thank you, so much, Bob!
This is one of my favorite moth photos, but I really was grasping at straws trying to figure it out!

Maybe Feltia subterranea?
It lacks the very dark color towards the middle, but otherwise reminds me of Feltia subterranea.
