Size: around 10mm
Actually found about six feet off the ground on play equipment.

tenebrionid; can't tell which one (prima facie Helops)
i like it; but there are several genera that look similar, even in different subfamilies... Hatch's keys may help

Helops.
I agree. Helops is a pretty common genus up there. I'd suggest H. pernitens as the probable species.
