Portrait of an Ambush Bug - Phymata pennsylvanica

Portrait of an Ambush Bug - Phymata pennsylvanica
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
October 12, 2008
Shot this morning in my garden perched on the head of a coneflower. Thankfully the chill in the air kept it still while I was able to grab the camera and tripod. Nevertheless, I still had to composite many shots to cheat the shallow depth of field.

Moved from Jagged Ambush Bugs.

Well worth the work.
(I know, that's easy for me to say) Great results, at any rate.
