Paraclivina - Paraclivina bipustulata

Paraclivina - Paraclivina bipustulata
Orange County, Florida, USA
March 17, 2024
Size: 6mm
This one looks much more like the typical Paraclivina bipustulata than the other strange Paraclivina I've seen at the backyard blacklight:

Moved from Paraclivina.

Moved from Beetles.

Added some ventrals
maybe convexa? protibial spur looks bent

this looks like bipustulata
P convexa has a very distinct 90 degree bend

I would encourage you to collect Clivina/Paraclivina from your area. I'm working on a review of midwest Scaritinae and seeing more southern specimens would be useful to understand the subfamily in the eastern states. I have a couple of very small Paraclivina I've tentatively ID'd as Paraclivina sulcipennis and it would be interesting to compare them to what you have been submitting. Also specimens of Clivina, especially those near "americana" are of great interest, as there seems to be a cryptic unnamed species close to americana and acuducta.

Will do - Clivina show up at the light sheet pretty frequently. The Paraclivina seem to be a summertime bug and I haven't seen any yet this year, except this guy.

i'll leave it to the pros...
cool thing at any rate
