White Checkered Skipper? - Heliopyrgus domicella

White Checkered Skipper? - Heliopyrgus domicella
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
October 4, 2008
Apparently there are several species of these, and there seems to be more white on this one than usual. Can someone give the species?

Moved
Moved from Skippers.

Very distinctive
It's neither of the two common checkered-skippers, but a spread-wing skipper called Erichson's White-Skipper. (Love those hyphens - one more thing to confuse us.) I found it inButterflies through Binoculars The West. In the U.S., they appear to be exclusively in Arizona, but, hey, they can fly!

Great!
Thanks for the ID!
