European Praying Mantis - Mantis religiosa - female

European Praying Mantis - Mantis religiosa - Female
Sufflok County, New York, USA
October 9, 2008
Found in a tangle of Poison Ivy vines at cliff edge.

The black front coxa spot does not have a white center. Would this be an indication of age, a different species, or just a variation?
