Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Melanoplus flavidus Scudder, 1878
Explanation of Names
"Yellowish Spur-Throat Grasshopper" is based on the species name, and in reality this species is not particularly yellow in over-all appearance. Generally it is a steely blue-gray with yellowish highlights.
"Blue-legged Grasshopper" is very commonly used as well, and while appropriate, is also used for a few other species, and could apply equally well to dozens of other species.

Habitat
Usually in sandy areas in grassland regions. Often near Sagebrush, but it doesn't seem to be directly associated with Artemisia as several similar species are.
