I am also anxious about the difference between two species except for the spines at the hind femur.

Looking at the Info page and the "See Also" area, it states "In North America, Syritta flaviventris occurs only in Texas and Mexico; it has a prominent projection near the base of the hind femur - lacking in S. pipiens". I initially belived that this comment eliminated S. flaviventris and then I saw images from Florida. :) Also, I was hoping for additional comments from experts just in case there are any other look alike species in another genus.
