Yellow Sawfly - Nematus tibialis

Yellow Sawfly - Nematus tibialis
Univ. Tennessee Biological Station, near Gatlinburg, Sevier County, Tennessee, USA
August 8, 2008
Size: 7 mm
Attracted to lighted sheet. Length measured in place--body length 7 mm. Looks like family Tenthredinidae, perhaps a Tenthredo, but I really don't know this group. Looks similar to, but skinnier than, this photo by Tom Murray:

Perhaps a male to Tom's female? Well, Tenthredo has something like 100 plus species in North America.

Tenthredinidae, Nematinae, Nematus tibialis (Newman); different from the other picture (Tom's) which is same but a Hoplocampa sp.

i suspect yours and Tom's are from different subfamilies
both Tenthredinidae, though
