Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis

Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis
Swaledale, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, USA
October 21, 2008
Size: 5/8"
I found this insect on the back door this afternoon. The day is overcast, windy and a temp of 50 degrees. I noticed the beak is about half the size of it's body, ouch! By the way, they don't bite.

Spotted 3 WC Seed Bugs
Well today we were cleaning out our storage shed and found 3 of these cool looking bugs. I had no idea what they were called or anything about them. My son had a real joy with them though, he put them in a jar and watched there movements and kinda studied them and kept asking me what they were. Well after we finished our outside work I figured I would look this bug up. Searched for a little while then I came across this site and found what I was looking for. Site is now in my Favorites. Also The 3 we found was in Northern Ohio.
