Giant Bark Aphid - Longistigma caryae

Giant Bark Aphid - Longistigma caryae
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
October 23, 2008
Size: 1/4 inch
Only took me an HOUR to find out what this was... They were all over around my oak tree and I never thought to think they were aphids... Although I did see a ladybug eating one...

giatn bark aphid
Thanks so much, I also found one under an oak tree yesterday, 24 Nov 08 although it has been fairly mild this fall. I kinda thought it was an aphid with its soft body and such but at first I thought it was a spider, such long legs. I am in Oklahoma City
