Explanation of Names
Latalus ocellaris (Fallén 1806)
Identification
This species resembles members of the genus Latalus, but is unique in having reticulate venation in the claval region of the wings.
Range
native to Europe, adventive in NA.(1) It is found throughout the eastern U.S. and Canada and stretches across Canada to British Columbia.
Habitat
in e. NA, common in non-native areas (lawns, old fields, etc.) (Dr Hamilton's comment); in the UK, common in a variety of grassland habitats(2)
