Just checking....does that little thing poking off the end determine sex or not? There are now at least two of these. They are both at the same planter where they were last year. No holes dug yet like last year, though.

Male.
Male cicada killers typically perch like this, usually overlooking the nesting site of several females:-) The "pseudostinger" is also a good way to tell the gender. Females have a retractable stinger.
