Unknown moth - Dicymolomia metalliferalis

Unknown moth - Dicymolomia metalliferalis
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
January 21, 2008
Size: ~14mm.
Came to black light. I've just started photographing the moths which come to my black light, so I'll likely be submitting more than one photo of the same species until I get an idea of the variation within each species. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

Genus IDed
by All-Leps Barcode of Life.

Genus IDed
Does "Genus IDed" mean that that is as far as they can go, not enough match to any one species to choose? Or if the database gets bigger and patterns emerge can you get an update in the future with more info?

They IDed this specimen
only to genus. I assume that in the future they will be able to ID it to species.

They need a "museum" specimen
Gary,
BOLD needs a Museum Specimen (specimen dissected & ID'd by a recognized professional) for DNA reference. You can request your contact at BOLD to have your specimen dissected ... they actually send it out to a lab.
