Camponotus sansabeanus ? - Camponotus
Mohave Desert, San Bernardino County, California, USA
October 19, 2008
Size: 10.5mm
I found this dead on the desert floor. A spider either killed it or had found the body since it was nearby (notice the spider's silk in the photos). The antenna were broken off.

+
I should add that the antenna had broken off and that this specimen is four times larger than other pogonomyrmex common in the area.

Camponotus Major Worker
Camponotus major worker, I'll leave the species level to someone more skilled than I.
