Labyrinth Orbweaver - Metepeira labyrinthea - female

Labyrinth Orbweaver - Metepeira labyrinthea - Female
Marlton, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
October 16, 2008
Size: Maybe around 5 mm?
I believe the ID is correct based on images already in the guide and the tangled web. Please let me know if I am wrong.

This one was getting a little lethargic as the cold weather set in, so my nephew took it to live in a terrarium in his room. He says he'll feed it ants and aphids after it makes a web.

We would agree with your ID
Is that an egg case it's guarding?

Looks like it
must have been eggs.

Not sure
Did you mean the ball up front, or the "bean-bag chairs" behind it of which there may be several - see photo 2.

We were thinking the "bean bag chair"
behind her reminded us of an egg cluster.

Me too
I count maybe three.
