Dragonfly larva, Carolina Saddlebags

Dragonfly larva, Carolina Saddlebags
Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware, USA
October 27, 2008
Size: 16 mm
Carolina Saddlebags (Tramea carolina). This individual is a relatively early instar (I have seen larvae of this species measuring 23 mm). Features characteristic of the genus Tramea (the Saddlebag Gliders) include the following: absence of middorsal hook, spine, or knob on abdominal segments 6 and 7; lateral spines prominent on abdominal segment 8; and epiproct shorter than paraprocts. To the best of my knowledge, six species of Tramea are found in North America; of those, only Tramea carolina (the Carolina Saddlebags) is found in Delaware.

Photo Use
I am currently working on a web / mobile application and would love to use a couple of these photos of Dragonfly nymphs in it.

I'd appreciate it if you contact me about photo rights.

Thank you!
