Massive golden bee - Xylocopa - male

Massive golden bee - Xylocopa - Male
Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, USA
June 19, 2024
I believe this belongs on the "Xylocopa unidentified species likely adventive in Florida" page. However, I wanted to post it here just in case.

It was found flying around a bird feeder mounted to a decorative lamp post. I didn't have my macro camera, but managed to grab a couple quick photos with my cell while it was exploring the bottom of the feeder. (Lighting was terrible with the dark shadowy feeder and the backlit sky behind, but in full sunlight this bee was a beautiful golden yellow.) After this, it tried to enter a horizontal hollow metal tube mounted to the lamp post, only to be driven off rather aggressively by what looked to be Xylocopa virginica that was already occupying the hollow.
