Aphids? on paper birch - Hamamelistes spinosus
Prairie Haven, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, USA

These were tucked in between the veins on the underside of a leaf of a small paper birch and being tended by ants. Hamamelistes spinosus? I don't know of any Witch Hazel near here - does this mean that there must be some nearby?
