Billbug - Sphenophorus australis

Billbug - Sphenophorus australis
Cape May, Cape May County, New Jersey, USA
October 9, 2008
I think is is a billbug (Sphenophorus). However, I am unsure of the species. It was seen at The Meadows, a Nature Conservancy preserve with sandy beach-type habitat. The specimen was deceased when found.

Sphenophorus australis Chittenden

Moved from Billbugs.

Re: same as those on S. australis page

you're correct about the genus
further ID may be tough
