Size: est. length 28-30 mm.
Found on sidewalk in front of department store.
Overall forewing color was a rich brick red.
It appears that the entire fringe (and perhaps part of the terminal area) of the forewing has worn off.
To my untrained eye this photo
looked like a good match.

Metaxaglaea, possibly violacea.
