Ischalia costata

Ischalia costata
Ogle Farm at Twin Creeks, GSMNP, Sevier County, Tennessee, USA
July 19, 2008
Size: 4 mm

Ischalia (Eupleurida) costata (LeConte)
Ischalia costata - and possibly all of our three NA species in the subgenus Eupleurida - are also attracted to cantharidin. Until recently, the subgenus was known only from NA - recently the subgenus has also been associated with new species from China.

Moved from Ischalia.

Great beetle
Do you have a day/month when it was collected? Did it come to light or was it out during the day? Do you know the range in rest of USA for this guy?

July 19
In a yellow bowl trap. Those are generally used during the day so I suspect that was when it was collected.

Thanks
I must try those yellow pan/bowl traps some day.
