Bug Party on Alligatorflag Flowers - Namacus annulicornis

Bug Party on Alligatorflag Flowers - Namacus annulicornis
Winding Waters Natural Area in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
August 1, 2024
Size: Approximately 1.5 inches
Alligatorflag flowers were full of these bugs. You can see large adult bugs and what I assume are smaller juvenile bugs in one of the photos. They kind of look like boxelder bugs - but I am pretty sure that is NOT what they are. Any ideas?

Thanks for helping identify this bug
So, this is a species of leaf-footed bug that doesn't have a leaf-shaped foot. Mother Nature is so very tricky. Thanks for taking the time to identify this bug.

lesson: pay no attention to 'common names'
they mislead more often than help
