The image had been sitting unidentified on my hard drive for 13 years. I haven't seen one like it before or since.
Here's a
P. vibex
on the same wildflower species as mine in Michigan, which is "just next door":
The only other
Pidonia
species in Ontario is
ruficollis
, and it doesn't look like this one.
