Size: 44 mm wingspan
New species for the guide; According to 'Moths of Canada', there are only 2 species of Hydraecia and this specimen seems to fit H. pallescens nicely.

Try this comparison at CBIF. Were you trying to compare your image with H. perobliqua as well? Also, page 3 of this PDF at CBIF, shows 6 species of Genus Hydraecia.

 
Yes..I was trying to compare
Yes..I was trying to compare my specimen with H. perobliqua..it seems like H. pallescens fits as the latter species is darker. The only other similar species is H. columbia but it is also darker and does not occur in Alberta.
