Backswimmer? - Notonecta kirbyi

Backswimmer? - Notonecta kirbyi
Bandelier National Monument, Los Alamos County, New Mexico, USA
September 25, 2008
Found this live insect in the vent at the bottom of my car windshield. Looking through this site I think it is a backswimmer. I tried to catch it to release it but based on what I read here, I am glad it escaped down into the leaf debris. Would it have accidentally flown here or been dropped by a predator?
