Derelomus subcostatus - Derelomus costiger

Derelomus subcostatus - Derelomus costiger
Orange County, Florida, USA
August 20, 2024
Size: 3mm
Drawn to blacklight.

I think this ID is right - caught my attention since it is larger and more chunky than Notolomus basalis. Different pronotum shape too.

No Bugguide or iNaturalist observations for this species in Florida yet, although supposedly it is here:

Compare with Notolomus basalis that I also picked off the light sheet last night - I can usually reliably find them:

Derelomus costiger
Yes, this is now confirmed as D. costiger By Julien Haran of France who is revising the genus for South Africa.

Derelomus costiger
This is likely Derelomus costiger. We just confirmed this species in south Florida. This one looks similar. So far there are no confirmed D. subcostatus in Florida.
