fuzzy bees - Anthidium manicatum - male - female

fuzzy bees - Anthidium manicatum - Male Female
Larimer County, Colorado, USA
July 10, 2005
These were quite a bit shorter and fatter (and louder and less willing to hold still for photos) than the paper wasps I was there trying to shoot. The one that pounced onto the back of the other had a pretty serious size advantage. The flower serving as a backdrop is catnip.
