Spider Wasp and Wolf Spider - Tachypompilus ferrugineus

Spider Wasp and Wolf Spider - Tachypompilus ferrugineus
Bear, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
September 14, 2008
Size: wasp~20mm, spider~16mm
I observed a wasp dragging a large dark spider across my patio (about 30 feet), up and across the side of concrete steps, across the wall and finally inside of a space between the wall and top of basement window. It took about 15 minutes; I was exhausted just watching this wasp work. I believe the wasp is a Spider Wasp Tachypompilus ferrugineus and spider is a Wolf Spider possibly Hogna.
