Are you aware of..
Bright, D.E. 1987. The metallic wood boring beetles of Canada and Alaska, Coleoptera: Buprestidae. In: The Insects and Arachnids of Canada, Part 15. Bisosystematics Research Centre, Ottawa, Ontario, Research Branch, Agriculture Canada, Publication 1810?
It has keys and illustrations for Dicerca in Canada.

I managed to find the publication at my school's library and keyed this out to D. tenebrica. Will have to update these old pics soon.

hmmm...
maybe I'll take a look in the school library (at the U of C)...I've checked U of A's entomology collection and come up with 2 possibilities- D. tenebrica (poplar borer) or D. divaricata...the former may be more appropriate as the habitat where I found this specimen was dominated by balsam poplar and aspen and the median groove on the pronotum looks prominent.
