wasp - Itoplectis conquisitor - female

wasp - Itoplectis conquisitor - Female
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
September 1, 2008

Moved
Moved from Pimpla.

Thanks Richard
That's great getting one of the ichneumons identified beyond family.

Pimpla sp. - female (Ichneumonidae)
The fairly short, but stout ovipositor is a hallmark of this genus. Most species are all black with brown-orange legs, just like this one female.

looks much like Itoplectis conquisitor to my untrained eye
compare

I Agree
Through the wings you can faintly see the white bands on apices of the abdominal terge. Leg coloration also fits Itoplectis conquisitor.
