H. aruspex
Diagnostic characters: black body and frons, yellow-reddish spots on frons, elytra with sharply delimited yellow margins (Larson et al. 2001)
H. aruspex is one of 2 Hydaticus species in Alberta; the other, H. piceus is brownish in colour, has a brown-rufous frons, and has no yellow lateral margins on the elytra.
