Beetle - Pardalosus pardalis

Beetle - Pardalosus pardalis
Burnaby, Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Canada
November 15, 2008
Size: 6mm

Moved
Moved from Aphodiini.

opinion of Paul Skelley:
"Looks like the native A. (Pardalosus) pardalis LeConte, 1857 or the introduced A. (Chilothorax) distinctus (Müller, 1776). The best way to tell them apart is the presence (distinctus) or absence (Pardalosus) of the setal fringe on the lateral eltyral humerus. The angle of this image makes it appear as of there is no setae. But the setae would be sticking out directly at the viewer, so they would be difficult to see. Need a more dorsal view to be sure. The narrowed hind tibia, darker leg color and general abundance of distinctus, make me lean toward distinctus on this one."

Aphodius sp.
